CareMatch (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the CareMatch platform.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Information you provide directly

  • Account information — name, email address, password
  • Profile information — city, state, ZIP code, bio, photo, certifications, specialties, hourly rate (Caregivers)
  • Payment information — billing details are collected and processed directly by Stripe. CareMatch does not store full credit card numbers.
  • Communications — messages sent between Families and Caregivers on the platform
  • Booking details — care start dates, hours per week, care needs description
  • Identity documents — government-issued ID and professional credentials submitted during Caregiver onboarding (stored securely, not shared publicly)

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data — pages visited, features used, time spent on the platform
  • Device and browser information — IP address, browser type, operating system
  • Log data — server logs related to your activity on the platform

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Matching — To surface relevant Caregiver profiles to Families based on location, availability, and care needs
  • Payments — To process booking payments, hold funds in escrow, and release payouts to Caregivers via Stripe
  • Communications — To facilitate messaging between Families and Caregivers, and to send you booking notifications, receipts, and platform updates
  • Safety & vetting — To verify Caregiver credentials, conduct background checks, and maintain platform integrity
  • Customer support — To respond to inquiries, disputes, and reported concerns
  • Platform improvement — To analyze usage patterns and improve our features and services
  • Legal compliance — To comply with applicable laws, respond to legal requests, and enforce our Terms of Service

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:

Between platform users

When a Family views a Caregiver profile, they can see the Caregiver’s name, photo, location (city/state), bio, certifications, specialties, hourly rate, and reviews. A Caregiver’s full address and contact details are never publicly displayed.

Third-party service providers

  • Supabase — Our database and authentication provider. Your account data and messages are stored on Supabase’s infrastructure. See Supabase’s Privacy Policy.
  • Stripe — Our payment processor. Payment card data is handled directly by Stripe and is subject to Stripe’s Privacy Policy.
  • Background check providers — Caregiver identity and criminal history information is shared with our third-party screening provider solely for the purpose of conducting background checks.
  • Resend — Our transactional email provider. Your email address is used to deliver booking notifications and platform communications.

Legal requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of CareMatch, our users, or the public.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, tax, or compliance purposes (such as transaction records).

Messages between users are retained for 12 months after a booking is completed and then automatically deleted.

5. Your Rights

You have the following rights with respect to your personal data:

  • Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction — Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Deletion — Request deletion of your account and associated personal data
  • Data portability — Request an export of your data in a machine-readable format
  • Opt-out of marketing — Unsubscribe from non-transactional emails at any time using the link in any email we send

6. Cookies & Tracking

CareMatch uses essential cookies required for authentication and platform functionality (e.g., keeping you logged in). We do not currently use advertising or tracking cookies.

You can control cookie settings through your browser, but disabling essential cookies may prevent the platform from functioning correctly.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption for data in transit and encrypted storage for sensitive data at rest. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's Privacy

CareMatch is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by posting a prominent notice on the platform. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
